The Department of Business Services provides services to component school districts, including Cooperative Bidding
and Purchasing, Transportation, the School Business Affairs Institute, and
Graphic Arts and Printing. Get more information about these services.
This
department is also responsible for all Nassau BOCES accounting, billing, budgeting, food services, payroll, and purchasing functions.
The Department of Business Services has undertaken four major initiatives this
year:
We are piloting a web-based version of the Nassau BOCES Letter of Intent
with several school districts. In March of 2004 all Nassau County School
districts will be able to access their 2004-2005 Letter of Intent on our web
site. And in April of 2004 all requests for Nassau BOCES transportation will
be made on a web-based form.
We are revamping our billing system. Our goal is to make the system more
efficient, easier to access and simpler to use.
With the cooperation of the Nassau County Association of School Business Officials (NASBO) we plan on reviving the Nassau BOCES/NASBO advisory committee. We will meet regularly with this representative committee of local school business officials to receive input regarding local district needs, provide information regarding upcoming Nassau BOCES and State Education Department initiatives, and coordinate local district/Nassau BOCES activities.
Finally we are engaged in a comprehensive evaluation of Nassau BOCES budgeting procedures and expenditures. Our goal is to streamline our procedures and make sure that we are as efficient and cost effective as possible. We will be sharing the results of our analysis with Nassau County districts when the study is complete.
