Textbook Central Nonpublic School Textbook Loan
Program
A centralized service for the distribution of textbooks for private and
parochial school students, Textbook Central is available to any nonpublic
school willing to accept direct shipment of books for loan to their Nassau
County students. Distributing textbooks directly to private schools
eliminates the need for students and/or parents to pick up and return books
through their home districts, while saving districts the cost of bookroom
administration and staffing. During the 2002-03 school year, Textbook Central
provided books for 11,000 students with participation from 50 private schools
and 45 Nassau districts. Several districts are also using Textbook Central's
services to order books for delivery to district bookrooms.
