Public Relations ServiceThe Public Relations Service offers professional resources, expertise, and programs that help school districts communicate effectively with their audiences and build community support. The service can plan and implement a comprehensive and customized communications program for a district, or complement and assist its existing efforts with a wide selection of special projects, large and small. A year-round, customized communications program can include:
Programs are carried out by experienced communicators who are assigned to the district, with the full support of the service’s team of editorial, design and photography specialists. Close collaboration with local district personnel ensures that all communications reflect the district’s character, goals and needs. A district can also contract for specific services that augment its communications program or focus on a particular need. The Public Relations Service can, for example, conduct focused media and marketing campaigns; special publications and community relations initiatives; produce and direct videotapes; develop "visual identity" graphics design programs; create presentations; evaluate existing communication programs; and direct opinion research surveying. Staff development programs and workshops in communications subjects such as spokesperson training, customer service and written skills can also be provided. Through the Public Relations Service, school districts may also access resources and services of other communications professionals with a variety of specialties. For example, the service has established a partnership with SYNTAX Communications, a firm offering extensive print and electronic resources. The service’s publications and programs consistently win honors in national and state public relations association competitions. Contact:Phone:(516) 396-2220Fax: (516) 997-6459
