Peg Carlon

Peg started at Nassau BOCES in December 1990.
She started as a documenter and coordinator of Administrative
Office Support (AOS). She later became responsible for Pentamation
and the VAX system. In 2002, ADMIN 2000 from Lawlor Consulting
became available to districts, and three Nassau districts (Baldwin,
Rockville Centre and Wantagh) and four Suffolk districts (Connetquot,
East Islip, Kings Park and Wyandanch) have cross-contracted to
join the Nassau BOCES service. The web version of Finance Manager
is almost ready and Nassau BOCES is planning to be an ASP for this
version. Many of our districts are getting involved with
Requisition Manager. Pentamation is expanding for our districts.
East Meadow is migrating to the 4Js version of Pentamation. Budget
Prep and EDS software have been successfully loaded into Pentamation
and districts are moving to Employee Attendance and Purchasing
Modules.
Before her Nassau BOCES career, Peg moved from
teaching into administration at a Catholic high school. Her first
introduction to computers was a computer as large as her desk with
no software. She made a deal with a Brother from another high
school to get the financial software and student administration
software that he had written for free with the provision that she
would have to customize it to her own organization. Peg took the
financial part, and the assistant principal took the student piece.
That is where Peg's career in computers was born.
Peg is proud of the rapport she and her staff
have with the districts they serve, and look forward to continue to
serve and support our 56 school districts in the upcoming school
year.
