Data analysis provides the basis for all quality
planning activities aimed at instructional improvement. This service provides
core data analysis and data interpretation from Nassau BOCES data analysis and
assessment experts.
Training
workshops support districts that seek to more effectively manage, access, and
interpret district educational data for instructional improvement and public
information use.
Districts
are provided with individualized assistance in developing data as the
foundation for Comprehensive District Education Plans, Professional
Development Plans, Academic Intervention Services, or other SED plan
requirements.
Data
collection is at the core of program writing and program Evaluation.
Information gathered about your program is only useful if careful program
planning has specified what should be measured. In addition, data is
worthless if it is not gathered in a reliable, valid manner and managed
effectively. Nassau BOCES personnel can assist with building a management
information database which allows program staff and Evaluation staff to
easily track information in a well coordinated and efficient system. Nassau BOCES
personnel will assist with collection of demographic and other information
about program participants, surveys, individual or group interviews, focus
groups, review of documents and materials produced by a program, observation
of program activities, and structured measurement of targeted program
outcomes.
Districts
seeking an in-depth understanding of the effectiveness of instructional
programs will be able to interpret the data available for individual students
through the assistance of Nassau BOCES testing and measurement experts.
Districts
seeking an in-depth analysis of current programs or assistance with
techniques for Evaluating proposed programs will be able to access the
assistance of Nassau BOCES experts. Usually a compelling case that a program has had
a positive impact requires measurement of program targets before, during, and
after implementation of the program. Careful program planning and early
adoption of appropriate data collection methods and a management information
database will assist district personnel with successful Evaluation. The
preparation of a formal report of the impact of a program will showcase the
outcomes associated with the program. Nassau BOCES has an expert staff for
statistical and qualitative analysis, technical writing, and graphical
display of findings. In addition to a written report, Nassau BOCES personnel can
produce a variety of multimedia presentations of your data.
This service supports the individual educational
planning needs of districts or local schools. The service will coordinate
with SED regarding planning requirements, assist districts with completing
plans, and assist with incorporating multiple SED plans into a Comprehensive
District Educational Plan.
Support
includes help with team formation, identification of root causes for
shortcomings in student achievement, strategies to improve instruction,
identification of resources to support improvement of student achievement,
and facilitation of planning meetings within districts or schools. Training
in group decision making is available
As
part of the planning Service, a Special Projects Service is available to meet
specific, individual needs of districts. Examples of special projects include
customized professional research on questions of interest to districts.
Most
funding agencies require a detailed Evaluation plan as part of any grant
proposal. Nassau BOCES personnel can work with district personnel to develop this
plan and insure that the Evaluation component of your proposal effectively
addresses the processes and outcomes for which your efforts are designed.
