The LISLC Definition of Leadership

School leadership is at the core of any effective school. Leaders are not born. Rather they are developed through professional training, the acquisition of interpersonal skills, and the enhancement of positive personal qualities. The successful leader understands that education is a process that requires both support and direction. Key to this process is a leadership style that empowers others, includes all segments for the school community, and focuses on proper Evaluation and assessment to make informed decisions. Leadership itself is generally a collaborative process but one that often tests the resolve and the strength of the individual.
