Safe Cyber Surfing:  Preventing Cyber Crimes Against Children
Nassau BOCES is offering a program called i-SAFE, developed by the Department of Justice, that teaches children about internet safety. Staff development is given by Model School professional developers who have been trained to provide staff development to districts that are interested in this program. Staff development consists of 1/2 day of training, and lessons plans for grades K-12 . The i-SAFE program deals with such issues as cyber bullying, as well as teaching children and teens the skills and critical thinking they need to act safely and responsibly on the Internet. The i-SAFE program empow
ers students to recognize techniques used by cyber predators.
