Model Schools
Overview
The Model Schools Program focuses on identifying
new models of teaching and learning through instructional and
communication technology. Our goal is to help teachers to incorporate
technology into the curriculum and thereby improve student achievement.
The integration of technology will facilitate the implementation of the
concepts outlined in the New York State Learning Standards.

PLANNING
Model Schools Administrators and Professional Developers will meet
with district personnel to plan and implement a program of professional
staff development. The focus of the plan will be to facilitate an
effective implementation of instructional technology aligned with the
goals for student achievement.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Model Schools Program has defined a process for providing
professional development that equips teaches to successfully integrate
instructional technology into their classroom activities. The process
includes:

Training
Implementing * Reflecting
- Training teachers how to seamlessly embed
technology into learning experiences in many subject areas including
math, science, language arts, social studies, music, and art.
Integrated Award Winning Learning Experiences are available for
review.
- Providing teachers the classroom management
skills that will empower them to implement technology solutions
throughout the instructional experience and enrich their students'
learning experience.
- Building capacity for standards-based
teaching through Peer Review, by providing teachers the opportunity
for collaboration and collegial reflection.
- Providing teachers with meaningful resources in
support of their efforts to integrate technology into instruction.
EVALUATION
As part of the professional development, the Model Schools Program
provides educators with several models to Evaluate the effectiveness
of technology in instruction.
ADDITIONAL PROFESSIONAL
DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES
The creation of customized training,
curriculum driven workshops, and summer institutes are all available
through the Model School Program.
