Our Keynote Speakers

Creating Artists of Learning

Mary J. Cullinane,
Director, Innovation and Business Development, Microsoft Corporation

Our keynote for this year's Summit was Microsoft’s Mary Cullinane, director of U.S. Partners in Learning, delivered a keynote address on the future of the educational process and the needs of children. View Mary Cullinane's Powerpoint presentation from the Technology Summit.

In October 2000, Mary Cullinane joined Microsoft as Manager of Microsoft's Anytime Anywhere Learning program. She was responsible for program development and expansion, evangelism of 1:1 access and future strategic planning. In August 2002, she assumed responsibilities for the K-12 segment and managed Microsoft's national programs, marketing activities and strategic initiatives with national associations and Departments of Education.

In 2003, as a result of a partnership between the School District of Philadelphia and Microsoft Corporation, Ms. Cullinane accepted the position of School of the Future Technology Architect. She managed strategic education projects and relationships for Microsoft, including the creation of the new School of the Future located in West Philadelphia.

Making a Difference, Changing the World!

Carol Anne McGuire
Technology Integration Specialist at New Village Leadership Academy (Founded by Will and Jada Pinket-Smith) in Calabasas, California.

Carol Anne began teaching in 1989 teaching blind and visually impaired students. Her students inspired the world with how they overcame their disabilities and how to overcome theirs!
These amazing students became award-winning national and international filmmakers (writing scripts in Braille, filming and editing their original films) and have advised the Departments of Education in Japan, Israel and Russia on education for special education.

Carol Anne created and organized one of the world’s most dynamic international projects, Rock Our World. Through ROW, students collaborate with others around the world to compose music, make movies, learn about core curriculum, and meet each other in face-to-face video conferences. The project culminates in a 1-hour TV and Worldwide Web-Broadcast involving thousands of kids on each continent.   Sponsored by Apple Corporation

Dr. Raymond Jorgensen
, an expert in conversational leadership, served as emcee and weaved a
meaningful thread of learning throughout the day’s activities.

                                                                                                                     Ray Jorgensen, Ph.D.

Rounding out the day’s events, our leaders panel facilitated discussions about students in the 21st century and how best to prepare them to enter a workforce that uses technology to build connections around the world. The panel consisted of our keynote speakers, corporate executives and school superintendents, including Dr. William H. Johnson from Rockville Centre UFSD and Dr. John Bierwirth from Herricks UFSD.
