Programs

Brookville Environmental Center
This site offers an extensive challenge course as well as a Homestead Ecology Program.

Caumsett Environmental Center
This site, located within Caumsett State Historic Park, offers 1,600 acres of unique, diverse natural habitats: fields, forests, pond, salt marsh and seashore.
Local Resident Programs
Two- and three-day residential experiences are available at Brookville (tenting) and Caumsett (dormitory and tenting).
Upstate Resident Programs
Nine upstate and out-of-state locations are available for three- or five-day experiences.
Just Beyond the Classroom
Naturalists come to your school to conduct hands-on, interdisciplinary programs that are grounded in the NY State Learning Standards.
Marine Biology / Oceanography
Students learn about the  marine ecosystems of Long Island's north and south shores, or while on board  research vessels.
Starlab
This portable, inflatable planetarium helps students learn about the wonders of the night sky.
Earth Balloon
This 19-foot, highly detailed, inflatable model of the Earth helps students explore and understand geography and the impact of humans on our planet.
The Learning Net
The Learning Net is an edu- cational cooperative that supports the use of curricular content that uses science research, field activities, stan-dards alignment, professional development and engagement with practicing scientists.
 
JASON Project
This multidisciplinary program excites and engages students in science and technology. Curricular components are aligned to NYS Learning Standards.
 

 

Immersion Learning
This expedition based program founded by Dr. Robert Ballard is designed to explore the world's oceans, excite kids the world's oceans, excite kids with science and ignite kids' curiosity about careers.

Summer Programs
Students learn and have fun during the summer with activities in marine biology, oceanography, and outdoor  adventures.

Parents as Partners
Naturalists lead family groups
as they explore and share in hands-on activities. Having a environmental-themed event
at your school? Count us in!

Special Events!
These student events can take place at your school or at the IMAX Theater in cooperation with the Cradle of Aviation Museum. The presentations help to energize curriculum themes

Conservation Education Field Day
Fifth graders engage in six hands-on, 20-minute activities related to Long Island's natural resources. For 2008, the date is April 29 at our Environmental Center at Caumsett State Historic Park!
Giant Maps
Created by National Geographic, these maps make geography come alive! Great for cultural events at your school, too. North America will be available from October to June for 2009-10. Call today!
Videoconferencing
Through the use of your district's videoconferencing equipment, connect with us or other content providers for interactive "virtual" outdoor experiences.
