Just Beyond the Classroom

Hands-on, interdisciplinary programs come to your school! "JBCs" are designed to provide exploratory experiences and develop skills that may be used to supplement school curricula or act as a pre- or post-trip session for an outdoor field program. Our staff will meet you at your school (or a local park or beach), bring along all the supplies, and conduct the activities.

Why choose a JBC Program? JBCs are cost effective, hands-on environmental learning experiences which take place at your school.  They are available for each grade level and are easy to schedule with no buses, permission slips or chaperones needed. The JBC activities are grounded in Math, Science and Technology Standards.

How is the day structured? These exciting interdisciplinary programs are conducted by two* BOCES Naturalists per class  for 30-90 minutes to accommodate several classes in a 4.5 hour day.(*Note: one naturalist for Starlab and EarthBalloon) Extended times may be scheduled at an hourly rate.  If you would like a program that is not listed below, we can design one for you!  Invite us in and experience learning the JBC way!

How to set up a Program: Contact Mary Miller at 516-396-2264 or email mmiller@nasboces.org to schedule a program date.
