How to Apply for Classified / Non-Instructional Positions at Nassau BOCESStep 1—Application:Individuals seeking employment for classified/non instructional positions at Nassau BOCES must submit a cover letter indicating the search number and position applied for, a completed application, a resume and a signed reference release form. When the above information and materials are received, applications are placed in the active file and considered for employment. Step 2—Screening:All applications are reviewed to determine if the applicant meets the credential requirements for the designated position. Applications are then reviewed to determine the most suitable candidates for the current and anticipated vacancies. Step 3—Interviews:Interviews are scheduled for applicants whose qualifications make them the most suitable for the position. Candidates may be interviewed by committee. Finalists’ references are verified prior to a recommendation to the Superintendent. Step 4—Appointment:Appointment to a position is made after a candidate has been cleared by Nassau County Civil Service Commission, has accepted an offer and is contingent upon background clearance by the New York State Department of Education. When an offer of employment is made, a tentative salary placement is determined based on available information from the applicant. Staff is employed by official action of the Nassau BOCES Board upon recommendation of the Superintendent. Step 5—Orientation:New full-time hires are provided a packet of information regarding medical enrollment, health plans, and other items related to the employee beginning work.
