Interim Placement Service

The Nassau BOCES Interim Placement Service for administrators and teachers is designed to help Long Island school districts faced with the need to fill temporary vacancies.

We maintain a pool of qualified retirees who have been experienced administrators and teachers. All candidates will possess valid New York State certification. Nassau BOCES will complete reference checks and fingerprint candidates for districts that participate in this service. Interims that are hired through this service will be employees of the school district in which they are hired. Where applicable, Nassau BOCES will assist the interim and school district in applying for a Section 211 waiver.

Nassau BOCES will offer two levels of service for the districts to choose from:

Basic Level
• List of screened candidates
• Fingerprinting
• References checked
• Certification check
• Monitoring of waiver process (if applicable)

Enhanced Level
• All services provided in Basic Level
• 2-3 candidates that have been pre-interviewed by Nassau BOCES based on district provided criteria
• Guidance and assistance for candidate in completing waiver application
