On-Line Application System (OLAS)OLAS is a web-based application that serves participating school districts as their source for filling jobs. Districts can view applicant information, resumes and cover letters. Candidates are able to apply for specific positions using one application and/or have an option of granting all districts access to their application. The web address for OLAS is: Benefits to the districts include consortium advertising in the New York Times, Monster.com, Google.com, college placement offices and other outlets. The online applications can be sorted by need, printed and used as the district’s paper application. Each district can give access to the database to as many or as few administrators as they decide. The jobs on the website are updated weekly and the site provides hot links to each participating district’s website. This service, powered by Putnam-Northern Westchester BOCES, opens up recruiting to a much wider pool of candidates for participating districts than can be reached through traditional recruitment methods.
