Where are we going for 2008-09?

Operation: Resilient Planet

Operation: Resilient Planet puts students on a mission to investigate the health of our environment and discover how to protect our planet's ecosystems. Students will visit some of Earth's most diverse ecosystems to uncover the mysteries of our planet - side by side with host researchers such as Bob Ballard and Sylvia Earle.

Mission locations include the Great Lakes, Flower Gardens, Chesapeake Bay, NW pacific Islands and Stellwagen Banks, MA and will focus on protecting
our ecological future.

National Geographic Programs and thelearningnet

Both JASON and the Learning Net fall under NGS's "umbrella", and now, Nassau BOCES has even more programming options to offer! The Learning Net, is an educational cooperative that supports the distribution of content using real science, field activities, standards alignment, professional development, and engagement with practicing scientists.

The Learning Net's focus for 2008- 2011 is "Signs of a Changing Planet" and serves as an overlying theme for JASON, National Geographic and Immersion Presents curricula. Our JASON districts will have a "front row seat" in all development plans with National Geographic.

Future Themes
Coming in 2009: JASON’s Energy Curriculum: Infinite Potential!
What do the furnace in the center of a star, the pulse of
electricity down a transmission line and the chemical
reactions inside an organism have in common? Energy!

sunJoin The JASON Project’s next operation where we will explore energy and the vital activities that it makes possible. See how light, heat, sound, chemical reactions and movement continually transform everything around us. Explore the past, current and future challenges of energy generation, storage and consumption – and investigate and analyze emerging technologies designed to meet the planet’s increasing energy needs.
