The Parents as Partners in Education Programs offered by Nassau BOCES Office of Outdoor and Environmental Education are designed to give parents the opportunity to become actively involved in their children’s education.
The programs may be conducted in an evening or weekend event at various locations. Typically these have included the school site itself, our facilities at Brookville and Caumsett, or at a local pond, beach, or park within the district. They are conducted by Nassau BOCES Naturalists who will lead family groups as they explore and share in hands-on activities.
Listed below are examples of programs chosen by many Nassau districts. Specific programs can also be designed to meet your district’s curricular and community’s needs.
Starlab Survival Astronomy Maple Sugaring Micro-Continents Project Adventure Homestead Ecology Nocturnal Observation Ecology of Local Pond, Beach or Park
The specific content of these programs is cooperatively designed by Nassau BOCES Naturalists and district representatives. |
