Aspiring chefs at Barry Tech win culinary competition

Geoffrey DeCoster and Kyle Muzante, culinary students at Nassau BOCES Barry Tech took first place in the Ready, Set Cook competition. Hosted by the Long Island Chapter of the American Culinary Federation, the young chefs had to prepare a meal within a specific time frame.
The two competed against other teams of different ages; their winning dish was a pork loin with apple mushroom demi, sautéed potatoes, a yellow and green vegetable melody and a pan fried spinach egg.
The first-place awards included special chef’s jackets and partial scholarships to Monroe College in New Rochelle. Both students are seniors from Glen Cove High School.
