Even Start
 Reach Out Even Start is a family literacy program
centering around the concept that the educational achievement of children
and their parents is related. The program, based in Freeport and
Roosevelt, provides parents and children (under 7) with a safe, supportive
environment in which parents can learn literacy skills, and skills
required to obtain a job, use a computer, manage home finances, prepare
for a citizenship exam and obtain a GED at the same time their children
learn how to play with others. Books and toys are provided to
participating families and transportation to summer programs and
activities is also provided at no cost to participating families.
