You have tested positive for COVID-19 and are required to isolate

  • Please send your lab work with the positive result to your supervisor with a copy to COVID19leave@nasboces.org.

The length of your isolation is 5 days from the date of the test administration or when symptoms began, whichever is earlier. If symptoms persist beyond 5 days, a note from a medical provider will be needed to extend the isolation. Otherwise, you may attend work after the 5-day isolation. The first day of symptoms is Day zero. If asymptomatic, Day zero is the day of the test. Count the next day as Day 1.

If you are well enough to telework, please send a request directly to your supervisor and copy COVID19leave@nasboces.org. If approved, please be advised that for purposes of accountability, all remote work must be performed on a Nassau BOCES-issued device or platform (such as the virtual desktop). Please make the necessary arrangements by coordinating with your supervisor. Additionally, you will be required to respond to telephone calls from an administrator in your department or your supervisor(s) during the workday within 30 minutes. If you are unable to do so, you must email or text such administrator or supervisor to acknowledge the missed call and respond as soon as practicable thereafter.  If you are approved to telework, you do NOT have to complete the NYS COVID-19 Paid Sick Leave Request Form unless there are days when you are too ill to telework and need the day of leave to aid in your recovery.

If your job cannot be completed remotely (as determined by the Agency) or there are days you are too sick to work (even if approved to telework), you may be eligible for NYS COVID19 Paid Sick Leave. To apply for such leave, a request form can be downloaded from the Nassau BOCES website at: www.nassauboces.org/nyscovidleaveform.

This form should be completed and emailed to COVID19leave@nasboces.org. Someone will follow up with you once it has been submitted.
