Testing for those who are symptomatic

  • Staff, students and consultants with new or worsening COVID symptoms – whether they are vaccinated or not – must provide a negative COVID test result, be fever-free for 24 hours and all other symptoms must be improving to be allowed entry into a Nassau BOCES’ facility or their assigned work location. This does not apply to individuals with symptoms from:
    •    Pre-existing or chronic medical conditions that are not new or worsening; or
    •    Laboratory-confirmed illnesses such as the flu or strep throat.

Diagnostic tests will not take place in a Nassau BOCES facility.

Nearby testing sites can be found at https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/find-test-site-near-you.** Please be aware:
    •    You will be responsible for co-pays.
    •    Self-test kits cannot be used.

    Asymptomatic close contacts
Symptom-free close contacts are not required to test for COVID. They should continue to report to work/school. It is recommended that those exposed to COVID-19 wear a well-fitting mask or respirator for a full 10-day period and get tested at least 5 days after close contact or sooner if symptoms develop. The current guidance holds for all individuals irrespective of vaccination status or history of prior COVID-19 infection.
