The Nassau BOCES Equity, Inclusivity, and Belonging (EIB) Support Service provides Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), and Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education (CR-SE) resources to participating districts. This service offers guidance, resources, and training on developing and implementing school and district practices to ensure that all students feel they are welcome and belong. Nassau BOCES partners with school districts to customize services needed to implement DEI and CR-SE practices, review plans and policies, and support professional learning to advance equity, inclusivity, and belonging.

Nassau BOCES EIB Liaison for In-District Consultations/Visits
Each participating district may schedule up to three in-district consultations/visits from a Nassau BOCES EIB Liaison during the 2023-2024 school year. Consultations support the specific needs and goals of each individual district. Visits may include administrative teams, leadership teams, district-wide teams, or school teams. Consultations may include a needs assessment, goal-setting sessions, attendance at district/school equity team meetings, guidance, and support in navigating the New York State Education Department’s Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education website, or other related support.

Year-long EIB Virtual Collegial Circle
The Virtual EIB Collegial Circle is a series of facilitated conversations designed to be a supportive space for educators to share experiences, learn from others, and grow collaboratively toward creating more inclusive and equitable learning environments. Each session will include a topic of focus, as well as time for discussion and pertinent conversation. Session topics include building community and empathy; creating inclusive learning environments; the role of equity teams and leadership; cultural identity and implicit bias awareness; equity equity-focused conversations. The EIB Virtual Collegial Circle will include six 90-minute sessions. The EIB Support Service includes registration for up to four participants per district.

Full School Year Calendar of Professional Development Workshops
he 2023-2024 EIB Support Service includes a combination of in-person and virtual workshops designed to support engaging and meaningful professional learning. We recommend that participants enroll with district colleagues or teams to enhance the shared learning experience, however, we respectfully request that districts limit enrollment to four participants for in-person workshops and six participants for virtual sessions. If space allows, we will notify districts about expanding registration. Nassau BOCES EIB Professional Development Sessions are led by Nassau BOCES EIB staff and Nassau BOCES consultants with expertise and experience in offering training, guidance, and resources related to developing and implementing district practices to ensure that all students feel they are welcome, belong, and are supported.
