Barry Tech students Create “Birthdays in a Box”

  • The Nassau BOCES Barry Tech Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter paired up with Birthday Wishes of Long Island for a community service project to kick off FFA week.

Barry Tech staff and students donated and collected items to create 53 “Birthdays in a Box” that will be used to enable homeless/displaced children on Long Island to have birthday parties.

With the help of human resources, administration, teachers, teaching assistants, transportation and other faculty, students were able to deliver the boxes to the Birthday Wishes of Long Island warehouse in Hicksville. Birthday Wishes of Long Island will deliver these birthday boxes along with gifts to children residing in homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters and foster care homes.

Future Farmers of America is a non-profit career and technical student organization, which offers middle and high school classes that promote and support agricultural education.
