Sixteen students from Nassau BOCES premier career and technical education (CTE) high schools, Barry Tech and CG Tech, took top honors at the New York State SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Championships.
This year six students took first place, nine came in second place and 15 took third place. GC Tech student Gabriella Calone is the first Nassau BOCES student to receive the SkillsUSA John Iannotti scholarship which began in 2019.
Students in the Nassau BOCES Intensive Support Program (ISP) celebrated the completion of their coursework in a safe, socially-distanced ceremony. These students were presented with their certificates of achievement by administrators from the Adult Education Program, which is housed at the Joseph M. Barry Career and Technical Education Center in Westbury.
Kudos to Barry Tech Animation and Digital Media Skills student Andrew Wells who uses the skills he’s learned to channel his creativity into helping out his favorite charities.
