For some of us, the "golden" years of retirement are further ahead than others! But we should all know where to go to get answers to retirement questions.
To retire from Nassau BOCES, please follow the steps below.New York State Teachers' Retirement System (NYSTRS) – generally for teachers or administrative certified staff
There are two ways to book a NYSTRS consultation: by calling 1-800-348-7298, ext. 6100; or by logging on to your MySYSTRS account, selecting "My Tools" and then "Schedule Appointments."
Bring the following items to your appointment: a photo ID and your most-recent and current salaries by school year.
If your membership is before June 17, 1971, see the NYSTRS website for additional information.New York State Employees' Retirement System (NYSERS) – generally for classified or non-certified staff and occupational and physical therapists

2. Review your contract for retirement benefits and contact Human Resources for a detailed retirement checklist.
3. Submit a letter to your supervisor and Human Resources indicating your “resignation for the purposes of retirement.” Your resignation date should be the close of day of your last paid day of work.
