    My 35 plus years in the collision industry brings me to Nassau BOCES, Joseph M. Barry Career and Technical Center. I bring this experience to students with a hands-on approach using an industry based curriculum. I am a NYSED certified teacher, hold a B.F.A. from Parsons School of Design,and a member of LIABRA. In addition, I am a certified I-CAR instructor; hold certifications from PPG, 3M, Chief, I-CAR, and GM training. Lastly, I am a Skills USA advisor at Barry Tech. 
      

     

    Gaare

    This course provides practical instruction in basic auto body repair and continues onto advanced techniques and technology. In the 2nd year, students will estimate repair costs on vehicles, perform the repairs for actual customers, and are expected to meet or surpass industry standards.

     
    Students will learn how to:


    • use auto body plastics
    • work with specialized equipment and spray paints
    • restore cars to their original condition
    • customize (an increasingly popular part of the field)  They Will Also Learn Techniques in:

    • sheet metal straightening
    • sheet metal alignment
    • plastic repair
    • painting and refinishing
    • compounding and polishing
    • diagnosing and measuring damage
    • estimating repairs
