Nassau BOCES is building one of the largest private fiber-optic networks in the country. Called Bo-TIE, this four-year project will connect the school districts of Nassau County, providing them with improved access to Internet and telephone services. It kicked off in summer 2011 and 49 districts have been connected as of Fall of 2014.
Participating districts will save at least 15 percent annually on Internet and telephone expenses. They also will – at a minimum – double their existing Internet bandwidth.
