Ronald J. Ellerbe was elected to the Nassau BOCES Board by local school districts in September 2007.
Mr. Ellerbe has been a member of Freeport UFSD's Board since 1996, serving as vice president since 2006; president from 2000 to 2001; and chairman of the legislative, safety and budget committees. He is active in the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA), in which he sits on the resolutions and state legislative network committees.
A well-known advocate for education on Long Island, Mr. Ellerbe is president of the Nassau-Suffolk School Boards Association (N-SSBA) and has served on several committees, including the nominating, legislative and finance committees. Additionally, Mr. Ellerbe is a member of the Board of Directors and a past president of Reform Education Finance Inequities Today (REFIT).
In 2009, Mr. Ellerbe earned a Sixty over Sixty award from the School-Business Partnerships of Long Island Inc. In 2011, he received the Nassau BOCES Education Partner Award in recognition of his contributions to public education in Nassau County, and in 2015, he was named Advocate of the Year by NYSSBA.
Mr. Ellerbe is a graduate of Fordham University and holds a master's in public administration from Long Island University, C. W. Post. He also was awarded a Master of Boardsmanship from the NYSSBA.
