Mr. Carvelli's personal training career began in 1990 when he earned his first of many nationally accredited personal training certifications. In 1996, Mr. Carvelli co-founded the Academy of Applied Personal Training Education (AAPTE), an educational, continuing education, and nationally accredited personal training certification organization. During his tenure (1990-2008) as a full-time personal trainer, he logged nearly 30,000 hours of one-to-one client session time. In 2008 Mr. Carvelli put his full attention to teaching. Mr. Carvelli continues presenting educational courses to exercise specialists, personal trainers, and allied health professionals. Mr. Carvelli has presented nationally for the AAPTE, IDEA Health and Fitness Association, and the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (NYS AHPERD). The perspectives and biomechanical concepts he teaches often challenge common and generally accepted rules, guidelines, and practices related to resistance training exercises, theories of exercise preparation, mechanisms of injury, injury prevention, and human performance. Mr. Carvelli has also contributed to industry publications and educational textbooks and is a subject matter expert for certification organizations. Mr. Carvelli is a Resistance Training Specialist and the U.S. instructor for the Resistance Training Specialist (RTS1) coursework preparing for certification. Mr. Carvelli holds a current nationally accredited certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is also an instructor for the National Academy of Sports Medicines (NASM) personal trainer certification preparation course.
