Posted by Matthew Hejna on 11/30/2017This month’s STEM Spotlight will feature the exciting projects taking place in Island Park. Though only a K-8 district their students are engaged in a wide-range of Robotic projects including LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 and WeDo, KIBO, Rigamajig, Cubetets, and more. With Robotics labs in both the elementary and middle school, a zSpace lab, and Makerspaces in the libraries, Christine Chu will have much to share!
A new three-year Instructional Technology Plan (ITP) will be required in 2018 which will contain significant revisions from the previous version. Guidance will be released within the next week or so and your Nassau BOCES ITP reviewers will provide an overview of the new requirements and the resources available to help you complete it.
We’ve had numerous requests from the membership for a discussion on District Technology Department Structure & Staffing. As more and more responsibilities land in the lap of technology departments now that almost everything taking place in school districts runs through the network, how are different districts handling the increased workload? We’ll hold an open forum to give you an opportunity to compare notes and strategies with your colleagues.
