The awards commemorate longtime Nassau BOCES leader Fred Podolski, a pioneer in educational technology and founder of LITES.

The initiative is set to begin in fall 2026 for adult education students and expand to high school students in fall 2027.

Nassau BOCES recently celebrated the grand opening of the newly renovated auditorium at its Jerusalem Avenue Elementary School with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Auditorium Renovation Project, several years in the making, will benefit more than 600 students and staff from the Jerusalem Avenue Elementary and Children’s Readiness programs housed in the building.

Longtime education advocate and Nassau BOCES Board Member Susan Bergtraum received the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA) President’s Award for her exceptional service and leadership in public education.

Twenty-three grants, totaling more than $76,855, were awarded to Nassau BOCES educators in support of various educational initiatives. These grants will provide resources and opportunities for students in various Nassau BOCES programs and schools to enhance their learning experience.
