New cellphone policy to begin in September

New cellphone policy to begin in September

Starting in September, Nassau BOCES will implement a new cellphone policy aligned with New York State law. The policy limits the use of internet-enabled personal devices during the school day to support a more focused, distraction-free learning environment.

Students in our Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs will store their devices in new secure lockers available in each classroom. For our Special Education programs, phone storage will be handled in ways that best suit each building and student population.

Exceptions are available for health, educational and family caregiving needs. Families who believe their child qualifies should contact their school administrator or Committee on Special Education as appropriate.

We appreciate your support in creating an environment where all students can focus on learning. For more information, please read our student cellphone and personal device policy.
