Reflective Journals

Nurse Assisting - Mrs. Klemens

Health Issues
  • You have all been given an electronic space to reflect and discuss, individually and as a group, on current event articles related to Health Care.

    • At times, you can post about topics of your interest and passion and at times you will be asked to reflect on your peers.

Some reflections can be teacher directed and may include one of the following prompts:

    1.  Describe how this article could impact the future of health care.

    2.  This article provides information regarding factors that influence health outcomes.  Please descibe one negative health outcome and one positive health outcome.

    3.  Explain how these outcomes could impact you personally as a health care provider.

Guidelines: Peer to Peer Reflection

  • When asked to "Comment " to a member of your teams post:

    1.  Start with a warm comment, such as "I agree with your statement/position regarding _____________because _____________.

    2.  Offer suggestions (cool comments) - in a postive light. i.e. Did you ever think of ______________________________.  Or, what do you think would have happened if __________________________.  (Start your sentence off with a warm tone.)

Note:  Peer commentary should add value, meaning, perspective, and/or additional resources to posts.

Reflection Netiquette

    • Reflective journals are to be a forum for student expression. However, they are first and foremost a tool for learning, and as such will sometimes be constrained by the various requirements and rules of classroom teachers. Students are welcome to post on any school-appropriate subject . . . at any time, outside of the classroom requirements.

    • Pay attention to spelling, grammar, lower case, and upper case letters. It is a good idea to spell check and read over every post/comment before posting.

    • Reread your post to make sure what you are saying is clear.  Keep posts on topic.
