Committed to Advancing Student Success:
Deepening Our Resiliency in Challenging Times
During her opening keynote, Dr. Darling will identify the most pressing challenges student support teams are confronting in their various efforts to provide students with interventions that respond to traumas and crisis. There are a multitude of behavioral and emotional challenges that student support professionals engage with in an ongoing way in an average year, yet the COVID pandemic sharply intensified every level of difficulty faced by young people, as well the professionals who work to promote student well-being and success.
Dr. Darling believes that resiliency, grit and determination as among the most important qualities student support team professionals possess and display, particularly during the upending times we have been experiencing, and will propose strategies for deepening the resiliency that will keep student support professionals in the game so to speak, and enable them to continue to advance student success in these extremely challenging times.
Dr. Marsha Tyson-Darling is a Professor of History and Interdisciplinary Studies, Director of the Center for African, Black & Caribbean Studies, and Director of the Diversity Certificate Program in the College of Professional and Continuing Studies, and Director of the Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation Campus Center at Adelphi University.
