SPORTS MEDICINE - PERSONAL TRAINING

  • Teacher: Mr. Vincent Carvelli B.S., M.Ed. RTS2, CPT
    Mr. Carvelli's personal training career began in 1990 when he earned his first of many nationally accredited personal training certifications. During his tenure (1990-2008) as a personal trainer, he logged nearly 30,000 hours of one-to-one client session time working with a diverse population, including pre-post rehabilitation, athletic, congenital, orthopedic, and prosthetic conditions.

    Mr. Carvelli began teaching at Hofstra University, University College for Continuing Education in 1996 – 2020 and continues to provide coursework at higher education institutions. Mr. Carvelli co-founded the Academy of Applied Personal Training Education (AAPTE), an educational, continuing education, and nationally accredited personal training certification organization where he is the director of education.  

    In 2008, Mr. Carvelli turned his full attention to teaching and presenting educational courses to exercise specialists, personal trainers, and allied health professionals nationally. 

    The perspectives and biomechanical concepts he teaches often challenge common and accepted rules, guidelines, and practices related to resistance training exercises, theories of exercise preparation, mechanisms of injury, injury prevention, rehabilitation exercise, stretching, and human performance.

    Mr. Carvelli has contributed to industry publications and educational textbooks and is a subject matter expert for certification organizations. He is a Resistance Training Specialist and the U.S. instructor for the Resistance Training Specialist (RTS1) coursework preparing for certification, and a curriculum instructor for the National Academy of Sports Medicines (NASM) personal trainer certification preparation course. 

    Mr. Carvelli holds a nationally accredited National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) certification.
