Carman Road School
The Carman Road School provides comprehensive educational services for students with multiple disabilities
All students are placed in small ratio classes allowing for a true individualized learning experience.
Multiple methodologies of teaching are used in conjunction with state-of-the-art technology to provide stimulating educational experiences for all students. Language, academic readiness, social competence and activities of daily living are taught within a structured, aided language classroom environment. Trained staff use visual strategies combined with sensory activities and technology to encourage the growth of communication and interpersonal skills. Learning is enriched through clubs, specialized programs, community involvement, field trips and sports programs.
Carman Road utilizes a collaborative team approach including push-in related services enabling staff to provide students with individualized plans to address their needs. Support services are provided by physical and occupational therapists, speech teachers, school psychologists, school social workers as well as nursing staff and a consulting physician. Parents are active participants in their child’s education and participate in ongoing training and support groups enabling them to make connections with one another and share resources.
