JUUL Prevention and Resources

Nassau BOCES is pleased to announce that, under the New York State JUUL Settlement, we will be launching a series of enhanced prevention and education initiatives to address the growing concern around youth vaping.  In 2023, the New York State Attorney General secured over $112.7 million from JUUL Labs, Inc., designated for programs across New York that prevent and reduce e-cigarette use.  As part of this settlement, Nassau's portion (through BOCES) will fund programs specifically designed to prevent young people from beginning to vape, support anti-vaping work in schools, assist current users to quit and help enforce relevant laws.

These funds will be used in accordance with the Attorney General's approved guidelines to ensure they have maximum impact.  That means the initiatives will include evidence - based education, outreach in school and community settings, resources for cessation and surveillance to measure effectiveness.  Nassau BOCES is committed to creating a healthier environment for students, and these efforts are part of a broader strategy to reduce vaping rates, support student well-being, and fulfill our role as a proactive educational community.
