The Mental Health Consortium offers 14+ collegial work groups/circles that meet virtually monthly, including, elementary counselor circle, school psychologist collaborative clinical discussion group, BCBA circle, School Avoidance Team, crisis team roundtable exercises and more.  These groups are offered to school district staff for NO COST.  These groups are moderated by experts in their fields. The district MHC membership covers the cost of these groups.

The MHC schedule includes monthly workshops, updates, presentations, and trainings. These sessions, often available virtually, connect participating districts with experts and cover diverse topics such as mental and behavioral health, clinical updates, new research, and NYSED information dissemination. Additionally, annual training initiatives are offered in a cohort format, enabling district teams to receive training on evidence-based programs. Notably, Nassau BOCES is proud to be a CASEL Fellows Partner.

April 21, 2026, 9:30am - 11am
Location: Nassau BOCES Lupinskie Center
Topic: The Trauma You Don't See: Recognizing Hidden Stress Responses in Schools & Supporting Ourselves as Educations

When we think of trauma in schools, we often picture big behaviors: outbursts, aggression, defiance or emotional dysregulation.  In reality, many of our most impacted students are the ones who don't draw attention at all.

This interactive workshop explores the less obvious signs of stress and trauma responses, that frequently go unnoticed in classrooms and school settings, how these behaviors are often misunderstood and practical, trauma-responsive ways educators can support students without burning out.  Participants will also examine the impact of secondary stress and emotional labor on educators and leave with realistic strategies for supporting student well-being while protecting their own.
