Instructional Data Warehouse (IDW)

The Nassau BOCES Instructional Data Warehouse (IDW) is a repository for student data collected from multiple sources and organized for analysis and reporting. Those who take advantage of the IDW can access data on multiple criteria without affecting the original source data and enrich district professional learning and instruction.

The data available for district analysis expands as it accumulates from year to year. The IDW provides a wide variety of reports for all New York State assessments to be used for curriculum analysis. It also yields reports regarding diploma type, college tracking of graduates, and third-party assessments. Data can be downloaded for further disaggregation, and all reports can be saved and/or printed as needed.

IDW Accounts

A district IDW account manager to ensure privacy and security of student/teacher information.
A district IDW account manager to create individual accounts for participants with unique passwords.
Accounts created must fall within the following security groups: District Level, Building Level, Teacher, and Counselor, determining appropriate level of access.
Ability to reference the IDW Account Management Reference Guide to troubleshoot any platform issues.

IDW Bullseye Presentation October 2024

This IDW Bullseye Meeting will focus on the use of reports created for curriculum and instructional purposes. At this meeting, information will be presented regarding the use of IDW reports as they relate to topics of interest for district and building administrators. Topics will include, but not be limited to: NEW Navigation Screens, Trends Longitudinal, NYSESLAT Snapshot, New Generation of Gap/WASA Visual, Comprehensive iReport for Graduation Rates, Census Dashboard, Third-Party Report Updates, Data Wise Course Overview.

This IDW Bullseye Meeting will highlight recently created reports for curriculum and instruction. The 2024 Spring Bullseye meeting will offer participants an opportunity to engage and explore the warehouse's Chronic Absentee Dashboard, ELL QRG Guide, and AP Comparison Reports.

At this meeting, information will be presented regarding the use of IDW reports as they relate to topics of interest for district and building administrators. Topics will include, but not be limited to: NEW Login Screens, Quick Reference Guides, ELL Comparison Reports, AP Comparison Reports, Grad Rate Longitudinal Report, Attendance Report for Teachers, Teacher Interface Re-rostered Data, Third-Party Dashboard, and Third-Party Radial Reports

Data Wise

Data Wise Professional Development Course:

Expands the use of data and analysis to improve instructional practices and student achievement
Incorporates protocols and meeting structures that will engage faculty in collaborative inquiry
Improve efficiency of school-based data teams to work smarter, not harder
Promotes evidence-based improvement cycles
The Data Wise course consists of two initial full day training sessions in August and a series of ½ day sessions throughout the school year

Data Wise II Professional Development Course:

Provides guidance in examining, interpreting, and analyzing the implementation of Data Wise I.
Includes in-district collaborative work sessions with a Nassau BOCES Data Wise team member.
Promotes the continuation of data analysis to improve instructional practices and student achievement.
Builds a sense of shared responsibility by identifying instructional solutions which will be adapted across grade levels.
The Data Wise II course consists of (3) ½ day training sessions at Nassau BOCES along with in-district meetings to be scheduled jointly between the principal and the Nassau BOCES Data Wise team member

Data Wise Coaching:

Provides guidance in examining, interpreting, and analyzing the school building data
Includes in-district collaborative work sessions with a Nassau BOCES Data Wise team member
Builds a sense of shared responsibility by identifying instructional solutions which will be adapted across grade levels
The Data Wise Coaching model consists of (8) ½ day training sessions in-district meetings to be scheduled jointly between the principal and the Nassau BOCES Data Wise Coach

Third-Party Assessment Data Sharing

Schools that utilize Third-Party Assessments, such as NWEA, STAR, and iReady, as interim assessments, have the option to share their third-party file extracts with Nassau BOCES. These files are uploaded to a secure system that processes your third-party data into the Instructional Data Warehouse. The Nassau BOCES Instructional Data Warehouse Team has created additional reports and visualizations that display your third-party data in a meaningful format to help drive instruction.

Why is the IDW Important?

Users have the ability to access data reports, which allow them to:

analyze individual student results and target areas of strengths and weaknesses to improve achievement.
support high standards and improve instruction through curriculum analysis.
assist districts with State Reporting needs.
analyze and improve pedagogy by identifying areas of instructional strength and weakness.
