ESSA Accountability
Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is the primary federal law for K-12 public education in the United States. Its main goal is to ensure that all children receive a quality education. ESSA mandates that states hold public schools accountable for student achievement but allows flexibility in how they measure this, beyond just test scores.
We are in the final year of the ReBuild Phase. To provide stakeholders with further support in understanding the two-year phase, NYSED has prepared a series called “Rebuild Phase Information Webinars” that explains components of their accountability system and the identification methodology and provides examples.
