On January 12, The Nassau BOCES Board granted 36 employees Tenure Status at a recent celebration. The employees are from the Department of Curriculum, Instruction & Technology, the Department of Regional Schools and Instructional Programs and the Department of Special Education.

GC Tech welcomes two new experts to the faculty
Captain Ceres John and business owner John Castro have joined the faculty at Nassau BOCES GC Tech. Cpt. John teaches Police Science and Mr. Castro teaches Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) and Plumbing.

Barry Tech healthcare students help save lives through blood drive
Medical Assisting students from Barry Tech collected a total of 158pints of blood during their most recent blood drive. These vital donations, gathered on behalf of the New York Blood Center, will help save close to 500 lives.

Nassau BOCES educators win over $50K in grants to benefit students
Twenty grants were awarded totaling more than $56,000 through the Nassau BOCES Educational Foundation (NBEF). The grants will be used to purchase equipment, classroom materials and educational technology for several BOCES schools, as well as to fund additional programming.

A trio of talented teens attending Nassau LIHSA have been named Scholar Artists by the Long Island Arts Alliance (LIAA) for their exceptional abilities. These gifted young artists are among only 20 from across Long Island to be honored with these prestigious awards in the 2022-2023 Scholar-Artist competition and profiled in Newsday.

New Assistant to the Superintendent (Human Resources, and Regional Schools and Instructional Programs)
Thomas McGrath has been promoted to the position of Assistant to the Superintendent for HR, and RSIP, at Nassau BOCES. In this new position, he will continue to manage the daily operations of the Department of Human Resources, where he has served as Executive Director during the past year. He will also provide oversight to other vital agency programs including the Department of Regional Schools and Instructional Programs.
