GC Tech students inducted into National Technical Honor Society
Twenty-eight students, representing school districts from across Nassau County, were inducted into the NTHS this spring. Membership in the NTHS is the nation’s highest honor for excellence in career and technical education.

Nassau BOCES holds its first Career Signing Day
Twenty-nine Barry Tech and GC Tech students were acknowledged for taking the next major step in their professional lives by committing to jobs in their chosen fields of study or a military career during the agency’s first Career Signing Day. Twenty-one of the seniors from across Long Island schools will enter full-time work and 8 will begin careers in the military.

Calling all high school students interested in a career as an EMT
In its first year as a stand-alone class, offered at Nassau BOCES GC Tech in Levittown, the EMT course boasts that 7 of its 8 students have already passed the practical portion of the state test and now qualify to take the written portion of the exam.

Nassau BOCES Recognizes Exceptional Students with George Farber Award
18 exceptional students were honored with the George Farber Outstanding Student Award. Winners received a plaque and $100 from the Nassau BOCES Educational Foundation. The students were celebrated at a special ceremony attended by board members, administrators, staff, and family.

Thirty-one Nassau BOCES students take top spots at the New York State Regional SkillsUSA Conference
Seven students took first place, 10 placed second and 14 came in third place. Barry Tech Animation and Digital Media Design Skills student Robert Stahl’s pin design was awarded top honors. Many at the competition were wearing the award-winning pin.

Captain Ceres John and business owner John Castro have joined the faculty at Nassau BOCES GC Tech. Cpt. John teaches Police Science and Mr. Castro teaches Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) and Plumbing.

This year six students took first place, nine came in second place and 15 took third place. GC Tech student Gabriella Calone is the first Nassau BOCES student to receive the SkillsUSA John Iannotti scholarship which began in 2019.
