Barry Tech students earn scholarships

This year, more than 40 students from Nassau BOCES Joseph M. Barry Career and Technical Education Center (Barry Tech), earned scholarships for academic achievement, competence in their chosen career field and service to their community.

Over $6,000 in total scholarship funds were distributed, with top honors to two students in the Medical Assisting program, who received $375 each from Long Island Blood Services. Four students received the $200 SkillsUSA Scholarship and have also earned top honors at the regional, state or national competition, demonstrating excellence in their chosen field of study.

The $125 Barry Tech Career and Technical Education Achievement Award was bestowed to 35 students who have performed well in their chosen fields of study, participated in school activities and community service, and have served as positive role models. One student earned the $125 Shared Decision Making Award.
