Nassau BOCES appoints new Assistant Director for Human Resources

Dr. Peter Nicolino Nassau BOCES has appointed Dr. Peter Nicolino as the new Assistant Director of Human Resources. Dr. Nicolino has held numerous leadership roles in various school districts and brings a wealth of experience to the agency.

In his new role, Dr. Nicolino has a broad range of responsibilities within the Human Resources Department, which is responsible for more than 5,400 full- and part-time, summer and substitute employees.

“I am excited to be part of the Nassau BOCES team. It’s a great place to work. Nassau BOCES has a great reputation for all the support they give to the districts,” said Dr. Nicolino.

Dr. Nicolino started his career as a teacher in South Huntington for 4th, 5th and 6th grade. After 15 years, he became an Assistant Principal in the Oregon Middle School, Patchogue-Medford UFSD, and then the Principal at the Bay Elementary School in the same district. He went on to become the Director of Personnel in the Franklin Square UFSD.

“Dr. Nicolino brings his long and varied past experience to the agency,” said Susan Bergtraum, Nassau BOCES Board President. “We know he will do an exceptional job.”

Dr. Nicolino earned a Doctorate in Educational Administration, Leadership and Technology from Dowling College. He also has a Master of Arts in Educational Technology from LIU-Post, a Master of Arts in Education from Stony Brook University, and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Springfield College in Massachusetts.

He lives in South Huntington with his wife of thirty years and has three children.
