Summer learning and fun is back at Nassau BOCES/Hofstra Summer Programs Register for unique programs now

Does your teen want to learn how to fix a car or fly a plane? Maybe they want to create a film or special effects? Or maybe they want to hike Long Island or become a marine explorer? We offer all these programs and more this summer through Nassau BOCES and Hofstra’s Summer Camps. University Continuing Education and Hofstra Summer Camps have partnered with Nassau BOCES to offer a variety of exciting, fun educational opportunities for young people in middle and high school this summer. This partnership offers a wide selection of amazing learning opportunities for teens, featuring hands-on classes that provide career exploration and real-life experience that can spark a youngster’s passion.
Summer Arts Academy
Long Island High School for the Arts (LIHSA) is proud to partner with Hofstra Continuing Education to offer the Summer Arts Academy for students in grades 7-12. The revamped program gives students the chance to explore the arts with peers who share a similar passion. Students will learn from instructors who have turned their own passions into successful careers. Courses in Filmmaking and Special Effects, Visual and Media Arts, Dance, Music and Theatre are being offered.

Summer Tech at Barry Tech
Designed to motivate young minds and gain experience in a desired career path, Summer Tech at Barry Tech, through a longtime partnership with Hofstra Summer Camps, offers programs for students entering grades 6-11. Check out something that could spark an interest in a career. Courses include: Aviation, Automotive, Construction Trades Academy, Culinary Arts Academy, Computer Hardware and Animal Care Careers. Certain courses are offered in Introduction and Advanced levels.
Outdoor and Environmental Education
Through Nassau BOCES Outdoor and Environmental Education program, students in grades 6-11 are offered an Outdoor Education Adventure Challenge at the Brookville Environmental Education Center there is an outdoor classroom and challenge course elements including a sixty-foot high climbing wall. Or students can see what it’s like to be a marine biologist in the Marine Exploration Technology program based out of Caumsett State Historic State Park. This program allows youngsters to discover the unique habitats of Long Island.
