Children’s Readiness Center welcomes new administrator

Jill Guzzardo was appointed to the administration at Nassau BOCES Children’s Readiness Center (CRC) for the 2021-22 school year. A leader in the field of special education, Ms. Guzzardo brings a wealth of experience to the CRC administrative team. She is committed to the Nassau BOCES mission of empowering “students of all ages and abilities to achieve their maximum potential.” 

Ms. Guzzardo began her career in special education as a teacher aide for Nassau BOCES, working in a self-contained classroom. From there, she went on to serve the New York City school system as a special education teacher in Far Rockaway. She soon transitioned into a leadership role as unit coordinator in Long Island City. In this capacity, she was responsible for administering the New York State Alternative Assessments, aligning the common core curriculum for students with disabilities, analyzing student data to inform curriculum, and designing professional development workshops for educators.  

Ms. Guzzardo has received specialized training from Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication Handicapped Children to further approve her instructional approach with students identified as being on the spectrum.  She has also pursued professional development in a number of critical educational areas, including therapeutic crisis intervention, special education student information systems, formative assessments of standard tasks, and the Ablenet Equals math curriculum, among others.  

Ms. Guzzardo is certified by New York State as a school district and building leader, and holds certification as a teacher of students with disabilities. She holds a certificate of advanced studies from the College of St. Rose, a master’s degree from Long Island University and a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Albany.
