Administrative promotions announced

When a member of the Nassau BOCES District Superintendent’s Cabinet leaves, senior leadership reviews the Agency’s needs and determines whether an alternative structure should be considered.

Earlier this year, Dr. RG France, Associate Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Educational Services, announced that she would be taking the role of Superintendent for Valley Stream 30 UFSD. In addition, Dr. Carla Theodorou, Executive Director of Regional Schools and Instructional Programs, announced her plans to retire in July 2022.

After these announcements, the District Superintendent and his team thoughtfully reviewed the current administrative structure and proposed a realignment plan to the Nassau BOCES’ Board of Education. At the May 19 Board meeting, the Board approved the proposed plan that will take effect July 1, 2022.

The plan calls for creating the following new positions that are better aligned to current needs:

  • Susan McNulty, currently Executive Director of Special Education, has been promoted to Assistant to the Superintendent and will be responsible for providing oversight to Special Education and Curriculum/Instruction, and carrying out other duties on behalf of the District Superintendent.
  • Thomas McGrath, currently Executive Director of Human Resources, has been promoted to Assistant to the Superintendent and will be responsible for providing oversight to Human Resources and Regional Schools and Instructional Programs, and carrying out other duties on behalf of the District Superintendent.
  • James Widmer was promoted to Deputy Superintendent earlier this year. The Agency will conduct a search for an Assistant Superintendent for Business Services.
  • Judith Hynes, currently Assistant Director of Regional Schools and Instructional Programs, has been promoted to Associate Director of RSIP.
  • Dr. Christopher Korolczuk, currently Principal of the Center for Community Adjustment (CCA), has been promoted to Assistant Director of Regional Schools and Instructional Programs. The Agency will conduct a search for a new Principal of CCA.
  • Dr. Kenneth Kroog, currently an Executive Manager for Special Education, has been promoted to Assistant Director of Special Education.
