New principal appointed to Nassau BOCES Center for Community Adjustment
Jeannine Stutz has been named Principal of the Nassau BOCES Center for Community Adjustment (CCA). In this capacity, she will oversee the center’s vital programs, designed to meet the unique needs of students who are emotionally, behaviorally and developmentally challenged to mild and moderate degrees.
Ms. Stutz has more than 25 years of experience serving students of all ages facing a wide spectrum of developmental challenges, including autism, as well as multiple physical and intellectual disabilities. She began her career as a behavioral therapist working with autistic children at Redwood Learning Center in Roslyn. From there, she moved on to Crossroads School for Child Development in Inwood, where she served as a special education teacher before being promoted to educational director.
Having proven her abilities as an educational leader, Ms. Stutz accepted the role of principal at the Center for Developmental Disabilities in Woodbury, before inevitably joining the Nassau BOCES Department of Special Education. She began her administrative tenure at BOCES as assistant principal of the agency’s Rosemary Kennedy School for students with moderate to severe developmental disabilities. She then took the helm of Carman Road School, providing comprehensive educational services for students with multiple physical and developmental challenges.
“I intend to draw on my wealth of experience to ensure that the CCA is a safe and supportive learning space founded on dignity and respect,” Ms. Stutz said of her new principalship. “I will work with my administrative team to offer every opportunity for students to achieve their educational goals, and to provide them with life skills that will help them successfully transition to adulthood.”
Ms. Stutz holds professional certification in school district administration and a master’s degree in special education from Long Island University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in psychology from New York University. She currently serves as an adjunct professor at the City University of New York at Queens College, teaching “Trends and Issues in the Education of Students with Severe Disabilities.”
