New professional development coordinator appointed
Theresa M. DeMatteo has joined Nassau BOCES as our new professional development coordinator. In this role, Ms. DeMatteo will develop and maintain a long-term Agencywide professional learning initiative focusing on digital tools. The need for this role was identified as part of the Agency’s Strategic Planning process. Thank you to those staff who participated in surveys, focus groups and committees regarding the Agency’s professional development needs.
Ms. DeMatteo’s initial activities will include conducting a needs assessment and developing a schedule of professional learning programs. Her work will be dedicated to non-instructional professional learning.
Ms. DeMatteo comes to us from Oceanside UFSD where her primary focus was developing and implementing technology-related professional learning for district staff. Previously, she was a technology coordinator in the New York City Department of Education, where she was named “NYC District 23 COVID-19 Pandemic Rock Star.”
“Theresa’s focus within the Agency will be professional development and building a sustainable program to empower staff with the various technology tools we use each day,” according to Associate Director Clifford Steinberg.
