The New York State Department of Education has named April E. Poprilo, District Superintendent for Western Suffolk BOCES, as Interim District Superintendent for Nassau BOCES effective Monday, August 14, 2023. The Nassau BOCES Board of Education is expected to approve this appointment at its August 31 meeting.

Prior to joining Western Suffolk BOCES, Ms. Poprilo was the assistant superintendent for Student Services at South Huntington UFSD. She also worked at Nassau BOCES from 2008 to 2013 as Assistant Principal for Adult Education. 

Nassau BOCES administrative team, which is led by Deputy Superintendent and Chief Operating Officer James Widmer, will work closely with Ms. Poprilo until the Nassau BOCES Board of Education hires a new District Superintendent.
