Nassau BOCES appoints new Executive Director for Human Resources

Dr. Valerie C. D'AguannoNassau BOCES' new Executive Director of Human Resources brings a wealth of experience within the agency and beyond. Dr. Valerie C. D'Aguanno, of Seaford, has held numerous leadership roles within Nassau BOCES, most recently as Associate Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Technology (CIT).

In her new role, Dr. D'Aguanno will oversee all aspects of employee recruitment, retention and management for the agency, which has more than 5,400 full- and part-time, summer and substitute employees.

"I am very excited to work with the highly capable Human Resources staff and to assist the agency with its employee relations' needs," said Dr. D'Aguanno.

For 10 of her 16 years with the agency, she has led the Nassau region Regional Information Center (RIC). The Nassau RIC makes a wide range of technology support services available to school districts throughout the county. Most recently, she has dedicated herself to helping school district leaders understand data privacy and security concerns to find solutions.

In addition to her RIC responsibilities, she has handled several CIT's services. She is also Nassau County's leading expert in technology integration, curriculum and instructional practices and has served on committees with the State Education Department and other state level organizations.

"Dr. D'Aguanno has made many contributions to the agency throughout the years," said Susan Bergtraum, Nassau BOCES Board President. "We know she will do an exceptional job."

Dr. D'Aguanno earned a doctorate from Hofstra University in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. She also has a Professional Diploma in Educational Administration from Long Island University, a Master of Arts in Secondary Education and a Bachelor of Science in Education.
